I come from a long line of strong women. My family has been blessed with a bounty of confident, vivacious, and outspoken matriarchs. I’m the daughter of a working mother, the sibling of a spirited sister, and the mother of a magical little girl. Empowering women’s voices is more than just innate for me, it’s a profound responsibility.
My first interaction with technology began at childhood. My dad always had to have the latest and greatest gadget or electronic, which still holds true today. My sister and I would spend hours playing with and learning how to operate these new “toys”. Many of them happened to be film or music related which inspired a love of singing, acting, and sketch writing at a very young age.
I have an entertainment background in Film/TV, both in front of and behind the camera. Over the last decade I’ve been involved in production and development of unscripted television in Los Angeles, CA and, currently, manage development and creative partnerships for a media production company which specializes in VR and AR in Durham, NC.
Emerging technology and the unknowns of the future fascinate me. The use cases of emerging technology, spatial computing, STEM, XR, AI, etc, specifically when it comes to creating positive global impact are tremendous. I aspire to have an active part in expanding and influencing diversity and inclusion within this amazing ecosystem.
The idea for the We Get Real AF podcast was born from the desire to learn more about the ways in which cutting edge technology and science affect our culture, daily lives, and how these technologies will shape our future. As Sue and I crafted this concept, we both felt it essential to amplify the voices of bad-ass women leaders in this vastly male dominated space. What if we could learn from these innovative women and share this knowledge with others just as curious as we are? Win/Win!
Our intent is fueled by a hope to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of girls as well as women who may be entertaining a new career path. The time is now! Women should not only be in the room or at the table, they should be in positions of leadership and influence in all aspects of technology research and development. I’m thrilled and honored to give these accomplished leading ladies a platform while simultaneously encouraging and inspiring women and girls around the world. Let’s lift each other up, have some fun, and kick some ass!
